We founded Más Ciencia por México, A.C. in 2012 with the help of a government grant for youth programs. From the start, we have set our mission to create, enable, and support activities and projects for science communication. We believe science, technology, and innovation are crucial for a transition to better and more equal societies, and that it is our role to provide communities with the knowledge to make informed decisions on health, education, and progress. Our organization was originally based in the state of Morelos, but we now have members in several states across Mexico and in other countries.
Over these years, I've been an active member and participated in a diversity of projects and events, some of which I highlight below. I currently serve as the head of the editorial committee. I encourage you to visit our official site. |

Buenavista del Monte, Morelos, February 2014: Expreciencia Ambulante

University level actions
One of our first projects were a couple of scientific photography and video contests. We aimed for undergraduate and graduate students to showcase their work through their creativity. In total, we had over 150 works, which we display and project during our community event workshops.
For these projects, I was part of the organizing committee and helped with the design and marketing campaigns. |
Science advocacyDuring the development of the youth bill of the state of Morelos, we actively participated in round tables and advocacy campaigns with the local congress.
Our efforts and input paid off, as the law that was passed by the LII legislaure of the State of Morelos included the right of youths of access to scientific knowledge and education. |
Webcast program "Charlas con Científicos"
This long running project of the organization was a collaboration with the Academy of Sciences of Morelos and the local newspaper "La Unión de Morelos". It started as a web-cast platform to interview candidates for public office during the 2012 election on their policy for science.
It then developed into a interview show of researchers, activists, entrepreneurs, and public officials from the perspective of scientists focusing on the science behind their work, how to foster collaborations with academia, or how to help develop a more sustainable society. From 2014 to 2017 I was the show's coordinator, organizing the behind-the-scenes, and often on camera as host. You can watch many of the interviews I hosted here. |
